debottlenecking of heat exchanger networks with fixed pressure drops (ii) design.

چکیده
debottlenecking of heat exchanger networks is a very important issue, when a plant is subject to process changes and/or increased throughput. in previous paper, a new targetting method was introduced, that allowed the designer to consider hydrodynamic constraints when debottlenecking a network. in this paper, a design procedure, which guarantees the consistency of the results of targetting stage with those of synthesis and detailed design stages is introduced. the new procedure is then applied to the same crude oil distillation unit and the results of the there stages are compared. the case study has shown that full consistency between the results of three stages is achievable, when area algorithm based on fixed pressure drop is used in debottlenecking procedures

debottlenecking of heat exchanger networks with fixed pressure drops (l.targeting)
retrofit of heat exchanger networks for energy saving and/or debottlenecking is one of important aspects of process engineering. pinch technology, as the most efficient tool for the analysis of these networks, has been applied to hundreds of such projects and shown satisfactory results. however, all the existing methods for debottlenecking, using pinch technology, are either based on assumed he...
متن کاملArea Energy and Throughput Targeting in Debottlenecking of Heat Exchanger Networks with Decomposition Approach
For energy saving retrofit projects, its economics are usually evaluated in terms of capital investment and payback time. The capital investment is in direct relation to the total heat recovery area of the network and the payback time factor is base on both the area and the energy savings. The debottlenecking is an increased throughput, which can be profitable in economic sense. The combination...

متن کاملMINLP synthesis of heat exchanger networks considering pressure drop effects
Considerable research effort has been reported in both Pinch Technology and MINLP techniques for the synthesis of heat exchanger networks. However, most of the design procedures assume constant stream heat transfer coefficients. A problem arises because there is no guarantee that the values of the coefficients assumed during network synthesis are the same as those actually achieved in detailed ...
متن کاملCost-Effective Bypass Design of Highly Controllable Heat-Exchanger Networks
( ) Design of a cost-effecti®e and highly controllable heat-exchanger network HEN has drawn a great deal of attention for years. One of the key issues in such a design is how to effecti®ely minimize undesirable disturbance propagation in a network with minimum cost increment. Design options in this regard include the deri®ation of a superior network structure and the selection of bypasses assoc...
متن کاملControl structure design for optimal operation of heat exchanger networks
When only single bypasses and utility duties are used as manipulations, optimal operation of heat exchanger networks (HENs) can be categorized as an active constraint control problem. This work suggests a simple split-range control scheme to implement the optimal operation. The control structure can be found by solving an integer-linear programming (ILP) problem with two objective functions pro...
